GYROTONIC® Exercise

GYROTONIC® Exercises

GYROTONIC® Exercises allow the joints to move through a natural range of motion without jamming and compression.

What are GYROTONIC® Exercises?

GYROTONIC® exercises allow the joints to move through a natural range of motion without jamming and compression. These carefully crafted sequences create balance, stability, strength and flexibility. It is three-dimensional in its range of movement, emphasizing spiraling and circular movements, which are unique to this form of exercise.  The movements of most patients are in a linear direction, so they are often surprised by how little control they have in rotation.  Unfortunately, most of the stabilizing musculature in the body functions in a rotational manner, for example the shoulder rotator cuff, hip rotators, and the abdominal oblique muscles.  Dysfunction of these stabilizers readily causes pain and overuse injuries.  The spiraling exercises together with the elongation provided by the GYROTONIC machine’s suspension system facilitate the recovery of precise control, as well as strengthening and enhancing movement flexibility without loading the joints.

Specifically, GYROTONIC® exercises provide a unique series of training techniques that focus on specific body parts to improve co-ordination and linkage between torso and the extremities at the same time. Physiotherapists can modulate and personalise the difficulty of an exercise to suit different ages and varying physical abilities.  The effectiveness and uniqueness of the GYROTONIC system of exercises introduce a new approach to musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation.

Features of GYROTONIC® Exercises

Are you looking for the optimal rehabilitation exercises after sustaining an injury? Are you frustrated with conventional treatment because your symptoms always recur from overuse? Or are you seeking for an easy and effective way to get rid of your aches from poor posture at work?

Symptoms of an overuse injury can sometimes last longer than a serious bone fracture. This makes the rehabilitation process challenging. Local treatment cannot warrant good results unless the musculoskeletal system is skillfully re-trained.  Recent research findings suggest that promoting core stability and body awareness can address movement dysfunction and relieve pain. Our certified GYROTONIC® physiotherapists combine the beauty of GYROTONIC® exercises with the knowledge of anatomy and pathology to develop an exercise method in rehabilitation and fitness enhancement. With accurate assessment the key cause(s) of your symptoms are identified; more than one part of the body is usually involved. Integration of GYROTONIC® methodology and physiotherapy provide the best possible treatment options to improve the whole spectrum of patients’ needs, ranging from injury and overuse rehabilitation to postural correction.

GYROTONIC® Exercises is effective for

  • Postural related problem
  • Chronic overuse injuries due to improper use of muscles or body parts
  • Back and neck pain
  • Performance enhancement after sports injuries, e.g. help synchronization in golf swing
